modular aggregation

to begin this project, each student was instructed to purchase 27 2"x2"x12" douglas fir units. with these units, each student was to compose an aggregation of these 27 units, with a maximum of three unit types each of which can be composed of only 8 cuts.

in my investigation, i took interest in using a single, simple but versatile unit to develop my aggregation. after many investigations with this unit, rather than express the many ways the joint could come together, i found it interesting to stress the one thing the system could not accomplish, to turn back on itself. by utilizing only 25 units rather than the assigned 27, i emphasized the gap of the impossible enclosure that the the final 2 pieces would seem to create.
