the cartesian project was the final project of my first semester. to begin the assignment, we were given a simple cartesian plane placed within a single stepped site. beginning with this, we were instructed to remove or add from this cartesian to create three different types of spaces; one of work, rest, and gathering, while still maintaining a sense of the cartesian. the working space was placed at the bottom with a connection to the garden, the gathering space was placed in the middle in a more open environment, and the resting area was placed at the top. the three spaces are all tied together by a central bamboo garden which is visible through translucent glass.
